Hi Jonny:

I played the organ part live, so any delay would have to be in my performance. I will fire up the studio computer and revisit the track.

There can still be MIDI delay when you record MIDI info live and then play it back - quite a bit in fact! The timing resolution of MIDI is not so great, but probably the bigger problem in this case is that the overhead from the VI itself and everything else that's going on is slowing things down. If you use Logic X you can 'un-delay' (i.e. move forward in time) tracks, using the (negative) delay control in the track header. I expect other DAWs have something similar.

I think I spend more time time-correcting than I do playing most of the time! Sad but true!

Jonny:

I see what you meant. In this case, I recorded audio straight into the DAW. However there can still be latency issues. I will listen to it again. Thanks again!

Yeah, there still can be I guess if it's a VI.

I usually get the MIDI as close as I can, bounce to audio, then edit. Sometimes the MIDI is just fine as MIDI though! Case by case I guess.

I played the source sounds from one of my keyboards. I don't have enough computing power to handle a lot of VI work.

Hey Jonny,

The two that I sent in were:
Going my Way? and Home of the Future (both on my taxi page).
Going my Way? is the one that made it, for now anyway ...
If I log off, I may never be able to get back on ;)

Gotcha. Huh. It really sounds like MIDI timing issues to me, but I guess it could just be the 'human element'! Happens to everybody!
