Road Rally somewhere other than LA? ::gasp::
I guess the "road" part is for musicians that have to get on it to get to it.
What are the chances of taking the Road Rally on the road? Would be great to see it in Austin, Nashville or New York. Personally I'd love to see it happen in Austin. You could piggy back on SXSW to capitalize on attendees... just a thought.

Hay Paul,
Michael has addressed this a couple of times on Taxi TV after similar requests from other members. Short answer is that most of the industry folks who attend and give talks and classes (for free, mind you) are based in LA and it would simply be too expensive to fly them all out. Also, since they are local many of them don't need hotel accommodations, so having to put them up elsewhere would be another major expense. Finally, Taxi has forged a very positive relationship with the Westin LAX over the years (I have to imagine that the RR weekend is a bonanza for them on bar tabs alone!), and that has allowed Taxi to get really incredibly cheap deals on rooms for attendees, like $125 a night, which is a bargain for that kind of hotel. So, off to LA it is again in November! It's well worth the trip, as anyone who has attended will attest.

I figured that would be the case. I bet with so e basic networking though he could craf an event in Austin, TX and one in New York. I would think Michaels personal network would help him find local resources willing to help out... Maybe one day event instead of three days... A mini road show, per se? I can dream...

Yea, when you step back and think about the incredible level of planning, logistics, and operations needed to pull off a road rally, you realize whey it has to be in their home town.
That being said, a number of folks have had smaller get-togethers with Taxi members in their local area such as Nashville, etc.
If you have never been, the trip to LA is VERY much worth it!!

SXSW is going on now, no shortage of music types there... would be awesome to get a Taxi themed track there. #IcanDreamRight?

Funny
My friends thought it was great I was going to LA
I think they thought Hollywood movie stars and Beverley Hills lol
I said that my whole time was going to be spent inside a hotel.
I was ok with that. It is quite a journey but I can see why they have to have it there Westin LAX
Everyone knows what to expect, and things run smoothly.
Next time I may go to to dinner one night a little further out just to experience a little more of LA. Hopefully with some new found friends.
