Acoustic Cues?

Post by eliforshort » Wed Apr 15, 2015 5:33 pm

Hey y'all,

What do you think about a couple of my tracks, specifically "A Warm Fall" or "Green Coast" for this listing?

ACOUSTIC GUITAR-BASED INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Production Music Library based outside of the U.S. and distributed Internationally, for Film, TV and Commercial placements. Give them easy-going, laid-back Mid-Tempo Cues that you might hear in the films like Catch and Release, Into The Wild, The Holiday etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references from these films to get an idea of the general style and vibe they’re looking for:

“Fritz and Gray Walk the Creek” by BT & Tommy Stinson from Catch and Release:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44vL8tmXfZA

“Swimming and Horses” by Michael Brook from Into the Wild:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYGEpQTq_MI

“How Much I Like You” by Hans Zimmer from The Holiday:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-ad-qbdmQY

Quoting the Library, “We need Acoustic Guitar Cues that range from solo acoustic guitar to small ensembles that would be great for a scene featuring a trip down a country road or a bucolic summer day at the lake.”

Thanks!

Yeah, these sound great for this listing. Watch the boominess on Gulf Coast, maybe some subtractive eq down low somewhere?

Nice work!

I think they are both perfect for the listing. I'm not a guitar player, listening in headphones I found the fret noise on "A Warm Fall" a little distracting at times. Not sure if that's the norm for accosting guitar based stuff. Great playing, nice harmonies, I reality like both of them.

I'm going to take a look at some of these suggestions!

I actually have another mix of Green Coast that isn't as boomy. If I upload it after I already submitted, they will hear whatever is up on my page, right? Like if I replace the file?

The scratchiness might be a bit tougher to cut out, but you're definitely right. I'll try to notch out a couple of frequencies, and hopefully keep the overall tone of the acoustic guitar.

Thanks everyone!

I think they are both contenders for the listing.

I heard fret noise in the first track, but after all it is an acoustic guitar.

I heard fret noise in one of the reference tracks as well .

I did my best to deal with both of the issues mentioned. Tough to get all the scratchiness out of the acoustic guitar, especially since it's two takes panned left and right. I put a de-esser on both, and a de-noiser, seemed to make a bit of a difference. Boominess in Green Coast should be better as well!

Thanks everyone!

Hey these are beautiful. You are so talented !
Only comment would be roll off some of the bottom end on Warm Fall, and maybe "a tad" also on the second one.
The second one sounded like it may be a bit of a stacked production, if there's any way to clear out
a little space here and there, that might also be a good thing.

And yes, you can swap out your new mix (up to when the reviewer scoops it that is) for the old one.
I learned that from Soffia when she was working there. I had actually uploaded the wrong track (doh....)

Good luck! Great pitches !
