Thanks for the tip Ingrid! I appreciate the feedback. I considered that, but I liked the idea of addressing the listener directly better. I was hoping that I imbued enough abundant detail to make it clear this was a labor of love by the LISTENER'S mother, not an act of slavery. I was trying to tap into common experiences many of us share, but have never thought about much. I understand the point of making it "more personal" by having the narrator sing about his own experience, but I felt that it worked better this way. Besides, I thought it would be a bit self-indulgent to sing, "My mother loved me everyday, yeah, my mother loved me everyday..." :lol: :lol: :lol: I suppose I could always switch it up and sing it that way live, though!
