2nd Trip Hop/Chillout

Post by ochaim » Wed May 27, 2015 10:15 am

Here's another go at this listing:

I tried for a more minimal style rather than my last one, which had a much heavier vibe to it, mainly due to the bass/kick.

Any thoughts about this are very much appreciated! And thanks for listening...
TRIP-HOP/CHILLOUT INSTRUMENTALS are needed for Non-Exclusive Placements by the Music Supervisor for the Pilot Episode of a TV Drama. Please submit awesome, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of acts like Rob Dougan, Thievery Corporation, Tycho, etc., etc., etc. Quoting the source: "Compositions could contain elements of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Dub, and Reggae, etc., to create a perfect Chillout/Trip-Hop track. Nothing too electro through. Tracks should be full length with button endings." Give them the type of laidback Instrumental Tracks you'd hear in a swanky nightclub or trendy restaurant, with smooth beats and great melodic motifs. Full-length Instrumentals that are at least two minutes long are needed.

I agree with Andy definitely needs some grooving bass going on. Drums seem a little dry and not trippy enough. Any other drums you can try? Other from those two points I think it sounds great and right on target. 8-)

If you need bass I got bass. I feel like funkin on this one. :D

I think the drums are verb wet enough, but some subtle ping pong stereo delay on the snare or something would help to give it some bounce and space.

Feels great O!
I notice that the kick "red lines"/peaks out my system... but not by much
take a look and see if that's the case.

Very cool track! I like the spaciousness of the track. Since this is a genre that I am just learning about, I don't know enough to offer any meaningful advice. But I can say Congratulations Owen!

Owen

I think it has the right amount of Chill out elements in it.
like others point out bass please BUT there is a certain airy lightness to the no bass version
