When we forward songs, we forward the MP3 AND the contact information you give us (both e-mail and phone number).
Thanks Gabriel!

Can I add that even though that is true, you should definitely have your name, phone, and email address as metadata in the mp3 file you upload to Taxi. Michael has mentioned that every now and then a client gets their mp3 files and documentation separated and has had to call Taxi to figure out who the member was that submitted a track. So make it easiest as possible for the client.

I usually put my email address in the album field because many players display the album name when playing. I put my phone number in the comments.

You know this is so important. I've missed out on this important info during first few years in submitting. Has anyone addressed this with TAXI staff - I mean it seems to me on the submission form where it asks is all your information correct? There should be a question to check YES I have added meta data to my uploaded track (and briefly explain why).

It seems SO SO important to me and as a newbie had many forwards where there was no meta data on the files. And this is now comes with knowing that including meta data is one of the most important things music supervisors suggest be included with submitted tracks.

This would be a good email for TAXI to blast and to include a highlighted NOTE on the listing emails blasted. You get so caught up in getting the songs done and right you are tempted to leave it up to taxi after you submit and move on.

Yesterday I was able to talk to Andy over the phone. He is the executive for the screening department.

He explained why meta data is so important.

Taxi adds our contact information to forwards to the clients, yes. But imagine this:

Taxi forwards a track to a client for a particular listing. The client likes it, but he's not going to use it for this particular movie/show, because he found something else that just fits better.
Now your mp3 is in the personal library of the client. (great! He likes it. He keeps it. There's a big change he might use it soon!)

A few months later he is looking for music for a similar job and it's urgent. He finds your mp3 but.... he lost the contact information Taxi sent him at the time... He's got another track he has used a couple of years ago which will do just fine. "I'll just use that one again".

This would be horrible!

Knowing that the screeners at Taxi use itunes to review our songs I think it's wise to use itunes to enter as much meta data as you can. This way you can actually see what your track looks like on the screen of the screener.

As Gabe Say's, I read that Taxi add the metadata to all forwarded mp3 files. We can rely on Taxi (yet again) to spoon-feed us.

Personally, I add my own metadata for Taxi submissions anyway, it can't hurt. However, when sending anything anywhere without Taxi as a chaperone (e.g. direct submissions) then its no-one else's responsibility. I'd say, get into the habit of doing it, and it might just make the difference. As always, if you want to swim with the big fish, better act like a big fish! :)
