Exclusive forward - how long to submit again?

Post by daveydad » Tue Jun 16, 2015 5:52 am

Hopefully this is the right place to post this. My question is... if we get a forward on an Exclusive listing an don't hear back about it for weeks/months/years... how long should one wait before submitting it to something else?

I'm of the opinion that, until a track is actually signed, it should be pitched to all opportunities that it closely fits. I'd suggest writing two or three more with the same vibe, so that, if you are contacted down the road, you can say, "sss has been signed unfortunately, but I have another track very similar to it, would you consider signing it instead."

If however, you do want to wait cause it's a cool opp and the track isn't burning a hole in your pocket.. I'd say wait to pitch until three months after the forward.

There is absolutely no earthly way to know when or if anyone will be contacted after a forward. As my maestro used to say to me, "It takes... as long as it takes."
