That would be ONE way, Russell! Actually, if you pitched well, that could work. But nobody has hit the nail on the head. I've dropped breadcrumbs about this for the last several years, but I don't think I've even handed out this exact prescription. And when I do, I fear that everybody in the ballroom will jump up, head to the airport, and use what I suggest they do.

It's so stupidly simple, and so obvious, but I would guess that 99% of musicians don't do it. At least not in any organized, regimented way. If they did, they'd get a lot more placements! But I'm not telling until the Rally!!! Mwaaaaaaaahhhh!

If it is Placements then it may be something to do day to day.

Maybe the secret is "read the ENTIRE description before you submit." Every time I got a return, the screener mentioned something in the listing that I missed.

Matt, I have to admit, I would have been drawn to the Skanky Girlfriend title, in spite myself. WEehumans are just drawn to scandal and titiiilating storylines.

In all seriousness, that was a very illustrative 30 second exercise. I will focus on that (and 1000 other things too). Ronan said at his boot camp, what separates a great mix from a good mix is not doing one thing 100% better, but doing 100 things 1% better. Probably applies more broadly to this whole music thing.

SOooooo....it's something you can do in an airport or on an airplane. But joining the Mile High Club probably won't get you more forwards/placements. Maybe if you joined with a screener? Dunno, but my guess would be that the only single technique that could lead to a tenfold increase is...collaboration. Nobody can do it all and if they can, they can't do everything at a world-class level, and that's pretty much the job description.

He did say it's not really anything that has been addressed on Taxi TV before, and he has addressed the idea of increasing your odds by writing more music, good titles, writing better music, instrumental versions... So....hmmmmm..... Probably something very simple but overlooked!
