Graveyard Without Crosses ©2015 Robert George BMI
You can see the beer sign glow,
Perching like a neon crow
Right above the poor souls in that bar
And their sad and desp’rate dreams,
Are like long black limousines
Slowly rolling in there after dark
It’s a graveyard without crosses
Full of lies and empty toasts
Stale smoke haunts that tavern
Like a lost and lonely ghost
Drunks complain about their wives
Dead end jobs and bosses
All the while they waste their lives
In a graveyard without crosses
Ev’ry booth is like a box,
Where a whiskey on the rocks
Covers up the things they can’t forget
And their cold and rusty fates,
Are corroded iron gates
Looming over brown grass of regret
It’s a graveyard without crosses
Full of lies and empty toasts
Stale smoke haunts that tavern
Like a lost and lonely ghost
Drunks complain about their wives
Dead end jobs and bosses
All the while they waste their lives
In a graveyard without crosses
Drinking used to hang me out to dry
In a place where morning goes to die
O but with the Good Lord’s love
I’ve been helped to rise above
A graveyard without crosses
Full of lies and empty toasts
Stale smoke haunts that tavern
Like a lost and lonely ghost
Drunks complain about their wives
Dead end jobs and bosses
All the while they waste their lives
In a graveyard without crosses
