Remote access problem-solving tools

Post by wen » Sun Jul 12, 2015 6:43 am

I have to laugh, because when I joined taxi a couple years ago, I thought I knew all about making music. omg! little did I know (truly). The depth of knowledge evidenced by taxi members continually astonishes me.

Since then, I have done a massive amount of learning, both on my own and with other people. I used to drag anyone I met over to my studio in the hopes of learning from them. However, I now seem to know more than they do, so I've been left to problem-solve on my own. That is encouraging in a way, but I have often find myself stuck since no one locally could help.

Recently I've solved a number of problems (exhilaration) that have been plaguing me for literally two years (agony), just by continuing to bang away at it, googling, etc. Without seeing first-hand what was going on, no one was able to offer any solution.

But there are two tools I wanted to share for the possible benefit of others, that could have prevented this, if someone was willing to spend the time/effort.

They are: Team Viewer and EZ Vid.

1) Team viewer allows someone to log on to your computer using a one-time password. They can then see exactly what is going on in your DAW or whatever. It is free and I have used it several times.

2) EZ Vid is a free screen recorder. I haven't used it but it seems like it would be a great tool for showing someone how to do something.

I really love our Taxi community. So much knowledge and expertise; so many wonderful people, and to be among like-minded people - it is just like nothing else and has added such richness and satisfaction to my life. I have benefited from so many people and their generous sharing of knowledge. Hopefully one day I'll be just as useful in helping the next person. God love you all!

Hey Wen!

yes, Sweetwatre uses teamviewer
http://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/rem ... -download/

Years ago I let them do this with a problem I was having.

But you know that can be very dangereous if you don't have absolute trust in someone.

Especially when they start moving stuff around, and deleting, :?

Also it might be embarassing if you have nude pics or x -rated movies or something,

NSA might be a better choice for help, not only because they are computer genius's, but they've probably already seen the nude pics anyway, lol! :P
