I've given up on this listing. The muse has left me this week apparently, and the listing is too broad for me to get a good grip on it. There are plenty of pros here that can meet the high bar, I'm heading over to the low hanging fruit section for dome relaxing cues and hick hop. :-) Good luck everyone!

Paulie, I think I'm about where you are. So hard to know where to begin. And time is running out...

I wouldn't overthink it; from the description, it's a beer company that basically wants a Subaru commercial. I just wouldn't go too 'elementary school' with the mass whistling and boomwhacker percussion.

Prediction: We will eventually hear the ad and think "Aaah.... I could have written that!" :)

While building my submission here at least to me the most challenging demand in listing is the fact that they are looking for catchy music with hooks and interesting sounds on it and yet they say this:

"...stays out of the way of the voice over and/or dialog"

So we should find middle road where we build hooks with nice sounds but still they should not be "in front"..

Let's see :D

It's interesting what a big $ amount does to people. Mojo is probably right (as usual). Personally, I would go to youtube and watch a bunch of night frisbee videos, starting with this profanity laden one:

I have no information that you don't have, but I would guess the spot has this VIBE to it, and the music used in this video has that fun, Frisbee spirit. Rather than over-thinking ONE piece of music, maybe the approach would be to sketch out several, and play them against this or any other night Frisbee video.

BTW, if you watch this video all the way through, you'll notice that all of the music they used actually works well. Maybe these guys should be music supes!

Michael

P.S.

Some of these work better than others, but they tell you something: Maybe you're thinking too much about your music, and not enough about the TV spot. What's the story, what's the context, what works against these videos if you kill the audio and experiment?

I just wonder how the screeners will manage the task! With such a controversial and vague data (and referenced tracks) I believe no one knows what the company really wants, and maybe even the company! I wouldn't be surprise if soon we find out there was some mistake or misunderstanding in communication between Taxi and the company. (Probably position of the decimal point)
Anyway, I'm sending two of my pieces.
Good luck to everyone!

Like I said on this thread, we think it's going to be one of those, "We'll know it when we hear it and see it against picture" things. The agency didn't try to hide that. It's not often when we get a "Just about anything (within reason) could potentially work for this" listing. But, if you watch the video from those British kids in my last post, I personally think it gives some good ideas.

And we're actually a little ahead of schedule on screening (the screener was able to start already), and we have approved back ups if necessary. We went into this well prepared. Go team! :D

Any word on this listing - curious to see what they picked for this spot.
