Restless Wind Marina

Restless Wind Marina ©2015 Robert George BMI

Well, I tied my old boat to the dock and I was careful
I knew strange things prowled the darkness and so I was prayerful
People had been disappearing all across the harbor
Hobos, hippies and that old retired Navy barber

My first boat was lost in Hurricane Katrina
Some say there’s a curse on Restless Wind Marina

I was drinking wine below deck and the night was breezy
Something on the misty pier had made the waves uneasy
I looked through a porthole at a flash of distant lightning
And I thought I saw a wicked shadow of a night wing

Then she appeared just like an astral ballerina
Floating near my rusty boat on Restless Wind Marina

There were whispers that she danced for tourists after sundown
On a stretch of boardwalk that was dangerous and rundown
Giles the Juggler says that she was under some suspicion
In the disappearance of a local street magician

And the sea breeze sounded like a haunted concertina
As she stepped aboard my boat on Restless Wind Marina

She was lovely and exotic
And her dark eyes were hypnotic
As a sterling full moon watched us on the starboard side
O her skin was alabaster
And her kiss became my master
I suspected this was how that Navy barber died

But my faith was steadfast and my prayer was loud and fervent
I thought that’s why she declined to make my soul her servant
Then the moon rolled westward like a mystic silver dollar
And I dreamt of bones interred within a sunken trawler

Something bit through all my mem’ries like a dark hyena
I remembered why I live on Restless Wind Marina

She is gone now and she’s drawn to towns with magic hist’ries
I suspect they’ve all had murders that are tragic myst’ries
But she has no hunger for a soul already taken
I’d been sleeping and that knowledge needed to awaken

Though I’d perished on that boat in Hurricane Katrina
Sailor’s roots have kept me moored to Restless Wind Marina
