Feedback on Hip Hop track

Post by HillbillyStash » Tue Aug 25, 2015 8:52 am

Hey party peeps, I'm looking for some feedback on this hip hop instrumental track for upcoming listing TAXI # Y150831HC. Is it on target with listing? Enough swag attitude? Contemporary enough? etc.

The track is titled "MAD SWAG" and can be found here: http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... t=pgbanker

CONTEMPORARY HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed for NON-Exclusive Music Library for a variety of Film and TV placements. They're eager to find well-crafted, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Cues in the general stylistic wheelhouse of artists like Big Sean, Drake, Kanye West, Jay Z, etc., etc., etc. Quoting the source: "We need laidback, swag-filled Cues that can give a scene some attitude. They should have a contemporary flair like the referenced artists." Please submit cool, contemporary Cues that have head-bobbin' beats with a BIG bottom end. Your submissions should stick to a central melodic theme throughout, and create forward momentum by adding and subtracting various layers of instrumentation as the piece progresses. Easy edit points and buttoned/stinger endings are recommended for this pitch. Please do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists' music, sounds, or any other form of media. They don't have a specific length requirement for this pitch, but we'd recommend at least 90 seconds or longer. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Thanks!

Got my head bobbin', I think you nailed it. :)

I remember watching a Taxi TV episode on YouTube where Michael jokes about how much of the hip hop heard on tv today is written by 50-something year old white guys. I'm a year away from that, but I think he's right! Good job.

Cool, glad your head was bobbin Paulie! That is funny... makes me think of Woody Harrelson in White Dudes Can't Jump!

Nice one!
I do think you can bring the lead synths up a lot more.
Sitting a little low in the mix through my monitors.
Good Luck!

Thanks Cass! Will do on pulling up the synths. Was wondering about that aspect of the mix. Appreciate it brother!

Cool!

I like the shaker 8ths? Or is that somebody whispering ah?

You could make some more movement in the synth by changing the cut off and those kind of things.
