Need some Ears for a yes or no on a submission

Post by SteveC » Thu Aug 27, 2015 10:23 am

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this song is a good fit for this listing, so need the wisdom of the forum to guide my $5 investment decision. My tune maybe a bit more Blues/Rock as recently described by a screener, but the entire genre thing can often times be subjective. The ears on this forum have already become trusted and true, so would appreciate a listen. Thanks as always in advance and looking forward to meeting you all at the RALLY!

NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY ALT ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a Multi-Platinum Producer for current projects. He needs great Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would appeal to the fans of bands like All Time Low, We The Kings, The Maine, etc., etc., etc. Give him well-crafted Alt Rock songs with super-engaging hooks, catchy melodies, and great lyrics that anyone can relate to. A vocal performance that's strong enough to help sell the producer and artist on the idea of cutting your song is a big plus. Acoustic demos will work for this Producer, but your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, August 31, 2015. LOVE THE SKIN YOU’RE IN

At the end of the day what difference does it make?
Where you live or what you do or what some people say
It’s your path to walk from start to end
So let’s all get started turn and say to a friend

Love the skin you’re in/Love the skin you’re in
Love the skin you’re in/Love the skin you’re in

You’ll be tried and tested along the way
Trials and trib/u/lations and occasional pain
don’t surrender/ remember /the tortoise can win
we’re all strangers after/ we become friends

Love the skin you’re in…Love the skin you’re in
Love the skin you’re in….Love the skin you’re in

It’s a simple place where we all should begin
But we get distracted by so many things
so the world keeps living in original sin
looking out for hope when it begins from within

Love the skin you’re in…Love the skin you’re in
Love the skin you’re in…Love the skin you’re in

Love the skin you’re in…Love the skin you’re in
Love the skin you’re in…Love the skin you’re in
Love the skin you’re in…Love the skin you’re in
Love the skin you’re in…Love the skin you’re in

thanks again

Hi Steve

This sounds great! But yes, definitely a blues-rock tune to my ears. Nothing bluesy at all about any of the a-la's in the listing; the stuff I've heard by those bands is up-tempo pop-punk, heavy on the pop. I'd save this for another listing.

Blues listings aren't as frequent as other genres, but keep an eye out because they do show up. This isn't too far off from Black Keys type stuff either, so you might roll the dice on one of those type listings also.

Cheers!

Hey Steven,

I like your tune. I think, however, it may not be contemporary enough for the listing. Sounds a cross between Clapton and SRV to me.

Just my opinion.

Jeff

Hi,

thanks for the ears. I agree, better to wait for a listing that is a better fit. Just needed other opinions. The genre "thing" along with the a la's, sometimes leave me scratching my head.

Thanks again! Love that I have this outlet to get straight feedback.

Hi St,

Great sound! The first al la that came to mind as I listened was Eric Clapton (Cocaine). I hope you don’t mind my two pennies worth of feedback on your lyrics. Not better...just a different lyrical perspective. Thanks for the opportunity!

Love the skin you’re in/Love the skin you’re in
Love the skin you’re in/Love the skin you’re in

The world keeps spinning round and round
There’ll be twists and turns, ups and downs
You think you’re alone when you’re in a crowd
Searchin’ for yourself in the lost and found

Love the skin you’re in/Love the skin you’re in

Hi LyricsMatter,

thanks for taking a listen. As a writer, I love when people find other perspectives within the words. Isn't that the whole idea?
Thanks for the twist...

this tune will go back in the box until the right listing comes along

best

Hi st,

The pleasure was all mine. Super generous and welcoming words, thanks so much.

A great song, fingers crossed the right listing comes along sooner rather than later!
