Well. we discuss copyright and license all of the time, and that means government.
Right?
Right?

Indeed, the past fifty years have seen a vast sea change from an economy of materials to one of ideas, and the US has led the revolution; we've squeezed more value from the concept of intellectual property than any other nation I can think of. China, on the other hand, gets a lot of value from counterfeit goods.

My guess is that counterfeit goods are a very small percentage of the goods China produces. The majority I'm sure are legitimate ex-patriated goods from the US. We can only speculate as to how many of those counterfeit goods are spec'd and ordered by employees inside our very own firms. That's my joke, lol!burpo wrote:I just know that there's an intellectual property/counterfeit goods joke in there somewhere.

Anyone remember when Wal-Mart would only sell products made in the USA? Then he died... the rest is history.

As a former otr truck driver, I've hauled my share of "Made in America by illegal aliens" to WM, and also to other distributors as well. Technically it is made in America, just not what most imagine. Not that it really matters.

Yeah, I don't want to beat up on China, they're not the only player, and you're correct in that they're mostly filling orders from elsewhere. Besides, their fake iPhones are getting pretty good.

If you believe that this nation is very weak, it would be fair to beat up on China. If you believe the U.S. is very powerful and influential, then you must also believe that we are responsible for much of the cause and effect for the events that happen in the world.

It can be difficult to comprehend the power of the American war machine, if you haven't ridden a nuclear aircraft carrier traveling at a speed in excess of forty knots. (how much in excess, I can't tell you, cuz it's classified) It's probably difficult for most civilians to even grasp the size of a nuclear aircraft carrier, let alone the sheer firepower of a carrier air group. A single CAG can blow more s**t up before breakfast than most countries do all year, and we've got like, seven of them.
