IK Multimedia sale on ST3 Sound Libraries

Post by bobporri » Fri Oct 09, 2015 8:58 am

Just thought I'd mention this. I think these IK Sound Libraries are basically viewed as "middle of the road" level as far as quality. However, it's hard to argue with things that can get your creativity flowing and I think these can do that and many are very useable. They are running one of their Group Buys where you buy one and get some free depending on how many "buy in". This is already buy 1 get 4 free and will probably hit the top level of buy 1 get 5 free in a few days. You can also do the deal more than once.

I believe these have to run within Sampletank 3 or Sampletank 3 SE.

If you go through esoundz, you get a bonus

There is also a free version of Sampletank if you just want the player and don't need the full editing of a full blown sampler. It comes with 30 instruments.

I have the free ST2 player, and bought some instruments that were really cheap before they discontinued it for ST3. I use it with my composition software and as a general midi type of vst in cubase for auditioning midi, only have to open one vst.

Thanks for the heads up. I've never worked with these. How do the string samples sound? One cannot have too large a string library. :)

Better than some, not as good as others. Some of the sounds are probably more "effects" than articulations, I wouldn't buy it for the strings.

I think Miroslav is IK's "flagship" orchestra and string package. I think it comes it about fair. There are some posts here if you do a search. I basically agree with Len.

I'm thinking a partial free version of Miraslov comes with the free sample tank.

Here's one I bought, I think it was on sale for $10 or so. It seems a little better than the free Miraslov, and there's a demo song on the page, the presets are a mixed bag.

Imo, the HSO for $99 is a better option

I have all the IK stuff, I got it because it seemed like a good deal at the time. But I never use any of it except Amplitube and the Trax stuff. For synths and samples they just don't compete.

I had it and seldom used it; maybe 25% of the instruments were usable in a modern context, without extensive tweakage, but there are third-party instruments built for the format that are way better than IK's average. The sampler itself is fairly easy to get along with, but I ended up upgrading to Kontakt.
