Fun, bouncy return - Beware the Uke

Post by daveydad » Fri Oct 09, 2015 11:12 am

One screener recently thought this would be a great track for a light, bouncy listing... but the one who got it, had this to say. Live and learn.

I don't know, David, it's not bad but it's just not doing it for me. It may be the instrumentation. There have been so many submissions with ukelele and synth elements. It just feels like been there done that. Fun and bouncy, gotta pull out the uke. It's not a bad thought but I'm just keeping my ears perked for something a little fresher.

FUN, BOUNCY, EMOTIONALLY UPLIFTING INSTRUMENTALS in various Popular Genres are needed by a Production Music Library based outside of the U.S. and distributed Internationally for Film, TV, and Commercials. They're building a new "feel-good" catalog, so please submit great, full-length, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that convey a happy, positive, joyful vibe. They're virtually open to any popular genre, (i.e. Acoustic Singer/Songwriter (Piano or Guitar-based), Pop, Rock, Folk, Adult Contemporary, Country, EDM, etc., etc., etc.) Your submissions should have a solid structure and arrangement, with easy edit points and buttoned/stinger endings. This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this pitch. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, September 5, 2015. TAXI #Y150905UI

Guess you never know, David. FWIW, I like it. :)

It's awesome that you have this kind of communication with a library. I'm still pining for my first deal, I would love to have someone to work with. :)
