Chill wave forward :-) (Plus a title story)

Post by Paulie » Wed Nov 11, 2015 7:35 pm

I'm chill, i guess. 8-)

Interesting story behind this title. I was staying at a hotel in Newark last month having just started a new job. Around 1:30am the guy in the next room came in and was belligerently drunk. He was screaming at his roommate, etc. This went on for about 20 minutes. When his friends came by to shut him up the woman was screaming, accusing him of trying to choke her. By this time I was in the hallway waiting to see if it got worse. He was screaming "I aint do nuthin! I'm just trying to sleep." I was ticked off by this point so I screamed in his face "SLEEP QUIETER!" An older man in the room across the hall came out and claimed responsibility for the drunk and took him into the room to try and calm him down. About a minute later I hear screaming, crashing and thuds. Then the woman runs out screaming "HE JUST KNOCKED OUT THE PREACHER!" Apparently the older man was a preacher leading their group on a trip. The drunk came out in the hallway, trying to get to the girl. I grabbed him bear hug style and body slammed him to the ground with me landing on top of him. He was down for the count (pretty sure I broke a rib or two if his) I held him until his friends got back. Turns out he literally knocked out the preacher then tried to throw the woman out of the window. He spent the night in jail, never saw him again. So, since it was about 2:30am when all of this was done, there was no way I was getting back to sleep, so I wrote this cue.

Note to self, avoid hotels near the airport in Newark. ;-) The image for the track on Soundcloud is the guy after I knocked him out. Perhaps a little dark, but I was ticked at the time
CHILLWAVE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a 5-Star Film/TV Music Publishing Company with a massive and really impressive list of placements in Film, TV, Video Games, Trailers, and Commercial Advertising. Give them hip, Down-to-Mid-Tempo instrumentals in the general stylistic ballpark of acts like Washed Out, Active Child, Tony Castles, etc., etc., etc. Take a careful listen to the references to get an idea of the style and vibe they need: “Feel It All Around” by Washed Out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-0TYeg9Rzc “Hanging On” by Active Child: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCB6D61LSCs “Heart In The Pipes (KAUF Remix)” by Tony Castles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3QxV9J3Qv0 NOTE: Although the references have vocals, they’re only looking for Instrumentals for this pitch. Please submit authentic sounding, well-crafted Chillwave cues that deliver a dreamy, lush, laidback metropolitan sound, with a rhythmically and melodically interesting approach. Your submissions should have a structure that’s appropriate for the genre, with plenty of ear-catching hooks, and current sounding electronic elements. Easy edit points and Non-faded endings will work best for this pitch. Your Instrumentals should be at least 2 to 3 minutes in length.

Hilarious story, Paulie!! Too funny. Maybe you've got a career in professional wrestling if this whole music thing never pans out, lol.

I like that track, Paulie!

That's a nice way to chill after saving the day. The picture is perfect.

I got to meet you for a moment at the Rally. When I told you I have been watching the forum for a while, you said "start typin' ".

Sounds like good advice.

Thanks Loren. Now just imagine me sitting at my hotel desk with a single small lamp on, Sports Center on the tv, and me filled with adrenaline from the fight. I was so trying to chill myself out... I ended up getting about an hour of sleep before going to work the next day. :)

Haha! Great story and cue! And you are correct, avoid Newark (I'm assuming this is in NJ) at all costs! And can we acknowledge that Paulie is a hero. You saved that woman's life!

I like your cue...congrats on the forward. Is that what it takes to get a forward around here:)?
I hope it makes it all worth the effort and thankfully it wasn't your ribs that suffered!
