Filipino forward!

Post by ComposerLDG » Thu Nov 12, 2015 3:12 pm

Picked up a forward today for the Filipino/beats Dispatch listing that was run a while back. I sent Taxi three versions of the same song. 1 and 3 were returned, 2 was forwarded. I'll take Door #2!

Here's the track: https://soundcloud.com/ldigiorgi/world-pop-2

And here's the listing:

INSTRUMENTAL CUES with Modern Hip Hop, Rock, or Pop Rhythm Tracks and Filipino-sounding instruments overdubbed are needed by a large Music Library that’s supplying music directly to the editors of a travel-based TV series. It would be awesome if you’ve got some traditional Filipino instruments in your studio, but we think you could pretty easily fake it using a strangely tuned mandolin, lute, etc. They need these Cues to add background ambience to what is obviously an episode of a travel show that goes to the Philippines. They are NOT looking for authentic or traditional music for this pitch! Listen to these references to hear what traditional Filipino instruments sound like, so you know what you’re trying to mimic: “Philippine Music, Traditional Instruments” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjVD-cKu0Fg “Philippine Folk Dance” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX_xrw6ZoKU “National Living Treasure Awardee plays Maguindanao Kutyapi” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPxnMEh ... KJ&index=5 Quoting the Music Library Executive: “We need modern (Hip Hop, Rock, etc.) tracks with a Filipino sound for a TV series in its second season. It’s important that the tracks are vibrant and up-tempo, with nothing too moody, new age, or 100% traditionally ethnic.” TAXI Tip: Because this is a Non-Exclusive deal, you could easily take existing Non-Exclusive Cues you have in your catalog and strip out an instrument or two and replace it/them with a Filipino-sounding instrument to give them what they need! TAXI Tip 2: We think they’ll use a bunch of these Cues, so there could be lots of opportunities here. Plus… once your Cue(s) is in the library, don’t you think it/they will get pitched every time other shows have Filipino scenes in them? We do! Please submit well-crafted Instrumental Cues in various modern genres that have a traditional Philippine element to them. They love the sound of lute-style instruments like the Bandurria, and Laude. Imagine a Kudyapi and tuned gongs played over current sounding Hip-Hop beats, or bamboo flute and ethnic percussion playing with a Pop band. If you are unfamiliar with traditional Philippine instruments you can find a list here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_P ... nstruments All submissions should be at least 90 seconds long. Instrumental Tracks with buttoned/stinger endings are recommended. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This is a NON-EXCLUSIVE deal. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this opportunity. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD no later than 11:59 PM (PDT), on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015. TAXI #D151006FI

Good job! Is that a hammered dulcimer patch?

Thanks, Paulie! Actually, it's a Persian santur. Similar to a hammered dulcimer. It's the closest thing in my library that sounded like the a las!
