Re: Out In Left Field; Blues Listing
Thanks for your perspective, Ott; I woulda said pretty much the opposite, cuz Creeper Man was intended to be 'swampy', but all opinions are welcome, and valuable. Especially yours, cuz I've known you a lil' bit and for a while, my friend. I intend to get into the swamp and hick-hop end of things, cuz of certain proclivities, such as playin' lap steel and whatnot. If it isn't a stab in the right direction, there are other directions,
Now that you mention, some authentic Fender tremolo & reverb coulda added to the proceedings.

Well done Mojo, ya gotta love pinched harmonics and a wah pedal. Lovely tone too.
OJ sounds more Delta and Stevie Ray.
Don't know if your'e interested in small speaker compatibility but the bass dropped right out on laptop speakers and probably would on a phone too, but the headphones have heaps. I've been using max bass to add upper harmonics for little speakers and it works a treat.
Cheers

Dang; thanks, Les, that's good to know. (particularly about the MaxxBass) Thanks be, my monitor sitch has improved, since those tracks were recorded and more recently, there have been more major upgrades, here. My laptop audio is above average, so I don't usually miss the low end, if there's any there.

Re: Out In Left Field; Blues Listing
Great guitar playing man. Makes me feel good just hearing. Hope it works for the listing! Would be sweet, and deserved.
Only thing I heard (which you couldn't do anything about now) is that it doesn't sound like the drums totally groove with you, partic on 'Orange Juice'. I think ramping tempos is ok, but I don't feel like it settles into a groove at a particular tempo. Seems like in those classics the drums are (or SOMEBODY is) rock steady (in a relative sense - even if tempo ramps up a little as it goes) and the guitar can just wander, rhythm wise, pretty much anywhere; the steadiness of that kick and snare - if you're gonna have full kick and snare at all - are the reference that makes the guitar talkin' make sense. I guess it doesn't sound 'live' to me.
Probably not telling you anything u don't know - and it's 'inside baseball' I guess - but worth bring up I hope. To me the linked track below is exemplary of this phenom: Jimmy Carl Black does speed up a bit as the song goes, but he is still focused on that beat like a laser, which frees up Don Harris (Sugarcane) to tell his story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOUmazgXyMY

Hi Moj ole friend I didn't read the other posts. Tough call for me cuz I liked them both. Playing was super fine and I loved that snare?? Just had sinus surgery yesterday and in a bad way today. I will listen again tomorrow and maybe give you something worthwhile to read. Saw you name and had to listen

Orange Juice Blues is the one to submit to this listing. It reeks of Stevie Ray Vaughan!
Good luck with it.

Hi Mojo,
liked both tracks, OJ has some very smooth guitar work, your influences are showing. Great listening.
I'm still learning how to decipher the language on some listings. Comforting to know I'm not alone in that endeavor.
$10 well spent imo.
cheers

Re: Out In Left Field; Blues Listing
Plenty of blues, since way-back-when, followed an A-A-A structure. I wouldn't sweat the structure too much.
(I think they just don't want three minutes of pentatonic noodle jam. You have melody in there.)
The only thing I hear that might give pause might be some timing issues in "Creeper Man."
On a more subjective level, the snare sounds (to my beaver ear) way too tight on "Orange Juice Blues" and both tracks
(even if giving a nod to SRV) are a smidge too clean. A super-easy fix.
You've got the goods here. Just a few twists of the knobs and maybe a slight beat detective quantizing and you're aces.
That's my (ever-devaluing) two cents anyway. A grain of low-sodium, free-range aminos and all that.
You d'man, Mojo.
BTW, you likely already know that you can "edit" the track on your TAXI page well after the submission due date,
so long as they haven't actually listened to your submitted track yet.

Re: Out In Left Field; Blues Listing *Update*
Update* Both tracks were returned, and although it was a yes/no, direct to music coordinator listing, music was marked as the reason for the ding in both cases. In retrospect, I think I shoulda not sent stuff with fluid tempi for a TV opp; that makes cutting to picture difficult.
