Cool track, but, if it's The Romantics, it ain't punk.

I'd suggest listening to The Minutemen, Black Flag, FEAR and The Meat Puppets.

Mic that sh*t far away with minimal, cheap effects and race against the drummer!!

Good luck!

Not trying to be confusing, but I think you got this one, Russell.

"Jaunty, cheeky, carefree, and not too aggressive." Yep, yours fits the bill. Walk On Whiz sounds at least a decade newer than the references to me, but unless the screener/client is purist about their punk rock I think this one should pass.

It seems to me that the Library wants "accessible" punk. i.e. commercial punk that won't creep out too many white collar wannabees, but still can appeal to the young folks. Take a look at the a'la "The Clash" that's corporate produced punk I'm sure.

Either way, I cranked out another that I think may be a bit closer to the Ramones and Sex Pistols. Here it is. https://soundcloud.com/russell-landwehr ... n-whiplash

GAWD I'm having fun blowing out the composing cobwebs doing this stuff!

Getting closer, Russell. :D At times I thought it sounded a bit more like The Who than The Ramones, The Clash, etc. It will come down to how selective the library is as far as matching the punk bands as a la.

And regardless, tracks like this always find a home! Good luck!

Hi Russell,

I think the track has a "foot" in the punk genre, but like others have stated, it really seems to be leaning towards pop. However, as I'm learning, the language of the listing is the roadmap and based on that, my 2 cents is that you are on the right path.

Drums could use a bit more "pop" Very very nice guitar work ! Sounds like you had a little fun recording which at the end of the day is what its all about.

Great meeting you at the RR

best
