Feedback on another children's listing?

Post by ComposerLDG » Wed Nov 25, 2015 10:05 am

Hi all, I've got two tracks in the running for this one. The other is a piano lullaby that I posted in another thread. I figured I'd work this one as a simple "learn to count" thing, and called it "Count To Three With Jack."

Think it works? Thanks!

Here's the track: https://soundcloud.com/ldigiorgi/count- ... ck/s-3eLk2

And here's the listing:

CHILDRENS-style INSTRUMENTAL CUES with various Instrumentation, Tempos, Moods, and child-friendly Genres are needed by a European Music Library with a very long list of great placements in Film and TV. They’re relatively new to running Listings with TAXI, so you probably don’t have material in their catalog yet! They’re building a brand new catalog of Children’s music, and they’re itching to find original, well-crafted Cues in All-Tempos. Take a listen to the following references to get a general idea of what could work for this pitch:

Lullabies for babies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm15rvkifPc

Music for the Classroom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-JNljnFxLc

Happy Background Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3rlZrtwyy0

Disney Piano Collection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ps8U_lhjPg

Happy Innocent Children’s Instrumental: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ouyb3pU4Zu8

Happy Music Pack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XbI6AAVJlg

Quoting the source: “We’re looking for music for our ‘Children’s’ library album. Instrumentals at least 2 minutes long. All types of tempo and instrumentation allowed, this music must sit well behind Children’s TV programming. Ideas could be tracks to be used as lullabies, playtime, silly behavior, etc. Live instruments well recorded is what we are ideally looking for. However, well used and produced sample library based tracks are acceptable, but must be the absolute highest quality samples only.”

Please submit well-crafted, original Instrumental Cues that deliver a child-friendly vibe. Build your Cues around a relatively simple, yet compelling melodic motif, while adding and subtracting layers of instrumentation as your cues progresses. As mentioned in the quote, be sure to avoid submitting Cues that sound stiff and MIDI-driven. Go for a more natural, organic sounding instrumentation.

All submissions should be at least 2 minutes long, with easy edit points and natural, non-faded, buttoned endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal on performance royalties, and an 80/20 split in the Writer’s favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library! Please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Sunday, November 29th, 2015. Cool stuff, man. (Great edit points, as well.)

Reminds me of "Signing Time!" a show that teaches kids American Sign Language to kids.

I think it's fine as it is, although if it were my track, I might consider adding (only in sections)
a sustained sound, like maybe a Booker T. organ tone.

Great job!

I have some up on P2P, too. Check 'em out, if you like.

Good luck, pal.
