Well, her picture on the shelf,
Made me feel sorry for myself
And I started thinkin’ of the girl I lost
I thought of our last night,
How we had that fight
When I found out she’d been cheatin’ with her boss

Thought about his limousine,
And his artsy uptown scene
Thought of how they made me feel like just a bum
So I tooka little walk,
To the old bar down the block
Figgerin’ a coupla beers’d keep me from

About where my future is heading

About things I should be forgetting
Faith sinkin’
Because love can be so unkind
Hope shrinkin’
And sometimes I can’t stop my mind
From binge thinkin’

Then I saw her shootin’ pool,
She had eyes like shiny jewels
And across the room she gave me a wink
We played best two out of three,
And when she had beaten me
She joined me at the table for a drink

Then it all came pourin’ out,
Insecurities and doubts
About her ex-boyfriend and stressful job
And she said the talk we shared,
And just knowing someone cared
Did a hellavuh lot to help her stop
