Andy,

Congratulations. Interesting about the trend in your music. Don't they talk about the 80/20 rule? 20% of what you do creates 80% of the income? Or something like that -- I know you said it was 6.5%, but it's interesting to see that just a relatively small amount of cues are providing you with the most income.

Thank you for your tribute to Michael. I'm so glad he created TAXI. I can't wait to thank him personally at the 2016 Road Rally.

Henrietta

When you say your domestic revenues are based on 48 cues/titles, do you mean 48 individual cues you've created, or 48 cues plus additional variations of those cues? Do you see any particular genre generating more revenue than the other? Would be curious to see that ratio... I would geek out and generate a revenue per cue based on genre and then track it over the years. Or maybe revenue per second, since there are so many variables? (I'm a numbers/analytics geek). :-)

Here's to a great 2016!
Hi Paulie,

Actually the numbers have gone up a bit since adding my last statement in - now its 55 cues, and 72 shows.

In these cases, its 55 cues, in some cases only one version (earlier stuff I have signed) and in some cases its a "drum and bass only" version which I have done over the last several years where publishers ask for (and I am happy to give them) alternate mixes, cut downs to 60, 30 etc, and stings / bumpers.

As far as my catalog - I don't have any information that indicates whether one genre is performing better than another, as most of my music falls into something with guitars in it - Post rock, americana, country, ambient, hybrid orchestral, sports rock, hick hop, trip hop etc. So for me, that stuff is performing well.

I can't contrast that against stuff that is more "in the box" like dramedy cues etc - because although i have written in those genres for film scores, I don't usually do that for production music (and there are tons of other TAXI members who absolutely KILL in those genres).

Hope that is informative.

Hard to say. If 20 % of my cues make me 80% of the money - that might be so today, but assuming I keep writing (and I will) in a year or two the 20% of my catalog at that point will be a much greater pool of tracks.

I do know that of the approximate 6% of my catalog that is getting licensed, there is a large number of placements on the same few tracks (a sub set of the 6%). They just seem to be the kind of tracks that "work". I imagine that if I did the math on that subset of tracks, it might fit the 80/20 rule pretty closely.

Thx.
