Ears Please
Hi All,
I would really appreciate it if you could have a quick listen to this track.
Looking for feedback on the mix, but anything else that springs to mind.
The cue is called 'The Boys Are Back':

Here's the listing:
1960's to 1970's-Style CLASSIC ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a NON-Exclusive Music Library that has lots of great TV placements, especially in Reality TV. They're looking for timeless-sounding, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Classic Rock Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic wheelhouse of legendary bands like: Led Zepplin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9TGj2j ... 9FnHjWp1Ih The Rolling Stones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4irXQh ... q5M-V24LcZ Deep Purple: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae_j-OE2ubMAlthough the references have vocals, please submit Instrumental Cues only for this pitch. Give them well-crafted Instrumental Cues that capture the spirit of the Classic Rock era, with typical Rock instrumentation. Build your Cue around a compelling central melodic theme that's electric guitar driven, and instantly grabs the attention of the audience. Short intros, or no intro at all will work best. Add and subtract layers of instrumentation as your Cue moves forward to keep it from sounding too repetitive or linear. Please avoid anything that sounds too busy, frenetic, or could become a distraction from a show's dialog or voiceover. Easy edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned/Stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length.
Thanks!

Re: Ears Please
HI Steve,
Really cool track. Really enjoyed the swinging vibe. I'm not an expert in this genre but try a quick check of your bass guitar line. I think I was hearing a bit of harmonic clash. Could just be some weirdness in the mix as it is down low in the spectrum but maybe worth a double check?
Very cool though
cheers

Very nice. I like the Bonham-esq drums. The only thing I noticed is that the guitars might sound a little too modern. I'm no guitarist though so maybe it's just me.

Re: Ears Please
Steve,
I think you need a bit more development. Also, the bass line that goes B to F# sure sounds to me like it should be based on B to G to match what the guitar is doing. That said, for $5, I wouldn't want to discourage you from submitting. I'm not always the best judge (especially when it comes to knowing what of my own stuff would work for a listing ).
Good luck. I think you have a great start.

Re: Ears Please
Thanks guys, the feedback is much appreciated!
Adding more development isn't easy as I also wanted it to start with a bit of a bang. But I've had a little play around with it and moved a couple of things.
Good call on the bass line, Bob!
I've put down a new bass line, B to G
I've uploaded it if you fancy a listen, it's called 'The Boys Are Back (New)':

Re: Ears Please
Hi Steve, good to hear ya rocking out there.
You might want to listen to the general tone of the reference tracks. The stuff before digital had a lot of high frequency detail chopped off due to the medium of analog tape and EQing to reduce tape hiss.
Todays digital is very bright in comparison.

Re: Ears Please
Steve,
I never write in this kind of style, but can say your track DOES sound what we listened to in my brother's basement oh so many years ago!
So I would say -- sounds great, go for it!
One thing that someone else mentioned, your track does sound relatively bright compared to the classic Pink Floyd, Deep Purple tracks of my youth.
