Too Fast

Post by SubRivers » Fri Feb 05, 2016 6:03 pm

ROCKABILLY INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed for several Non-Exclusive, $2,500, Direct-to-Supervisor placements in a brand new TV Series. They’re looking for toe-tappin’ Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic wheelhouse of bands like Reverend Horton Heat, The Hillbilly Moon Explosion, The Meteors, etc., etc., etc. Take a careful listen to the references below to get in the general wheelhouse of what they need:

“The Devil’s Chasin’ Me” by Reverend Horton Heat:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrbi3yOkYiU

“Maniac Lover” by The Hillbilly Moon Explosion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNK82OS-5zo

“Psycho for Your Love” by The Meteors:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7-ctQ_mMnw

Although the references have vocals, please submit instrumentals only for this pitch. Please give them rockin’ Instrumental Cues that have a believable, gritty, Rockabilly vibe, with authentic Rock band instrumentation. Your submissions should have super cool guitar riffs, prominent stand-up bass lines, and a drumbeat that really digs deep! Build your submissions around a catchy guitar lick, while adding a subtracting various instruments to keep your submissions from sounding too repetitive. Imagine your submissions used to capture the feeling of the open road, or the freewheeling vibe of a road trip with friends. That’s what they’re looking for!

Your Submissions should be 2 to 3 minutes long and have buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and style. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

These will be Non-Exclusive, $2,500, Direct-to-Supervisor placements, and you’ll keep 100% ownership of your copyright and master recordings. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI A&R person handpicked by the Music Supervisor. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Cues online or per CD, no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Thursday, January 14th, 2016. TAXI #U160114RC

short form critique

This is too fast for this particular slot. Cool track however...

Interesting thing is the ref tracks were all mix of between laying back and at pace.

I understand that tempo is a feel that is hard to describe in words and bpm - but perhaps pointing at the times in the ala track (e.g. @1:04 - 1:24) that most describes the "tempo" feel that is required - especially for cues.

Hi,
Yep, same comment on my return too. :)
I was a bit miffed, but the listing said mid to up tempo,
and I had assumed that uptempo was within the acceptable bracket.
Oh well, as that was the only comment we bith got I guess our $5 told us
that we have suitable tracks for the next uptempo rockabilly call.
I can live with that.
Graham (UK). Still composing a little faster than decomposing, and 100% HI.

My return said:

This track feels overly dramatic for this project.

I didn't totally disagree...it's on a track that already got a forward for a chase scene... but I did kinda figure it would get another fwd..
