Taxi TV Swampy Cues

Post by stevebarden » Tue Feb 09, 2016 11:59 pm

As promised, here are the cues I recorded during the Feb. 8, 2016 episode of Taxi TV.

A couple of notes on the recordings.
  • There is headphone bleed from the click track. For the purpose of the episode we decided not to address this technical issue.
I ended up replacing the Tuba from the Cinesamples Cinebrass Pro orchestral Tuba with one from Kontakt's Session Horns Pro.
I added reverb (QL Spaces) on all instruments. It turns out it needed it after all.
On "A Duck's Life" (both versions) I did pan the guitar and Dobro tracks slightly left-and-right (11 and 1).
I applied no EQ or compression.
A Duck's Life

A Duck's Life (not a Dobro)

Ducking Around

Enjoy!

EDIT: I fixed the links.

Thanks, Steve.

It was an excellent episode of TAXI TV. And it appears you've now answered all of the questions I asked during the show 8-)

It was a great episode (if I do say so myself), entirely because of Steve's willingness to do it, and his nifty cues that demonstrate SO much.

Steve, thanks for doing the show. I know we were both a tad nervous for our own reasons, but it worked out incredibly well.

BTW, the link to Duck's Life goes to the other cue. Somehow, it got ducked up.

Worth mentioning: In the chat room during the show, I saw viewers remarking, "Man, I am composing far too much," and "I need to simplify what I'm writing." Yes!!! It's almost always about setting the mood, creating a vibe, or establishing a location. Sometimes, all of the above. It's not about showing that you're the most brilliant composer on the planet. My guess is there are millions of brilliant cues out there that earn less than their simpler counterparts. K.I.S.S.

best,
Michael

Since I own Session Horns Pro, I have to ask; is the tuba THAT much funnier than Cinesamples'?
