(no) profanity in hip-hop listings

Post by CharlesLorenMusic » Tue Mar 08, 2016 3:14 pm

Almost every hip-hop listing says no profanity, regardless of the references given to be pretty vulgar. My question is, do you think it's okay to submit a song with some profanity except censored? Or are they looking for strictly clean lyrics, not even profanity that is muted or reversed like in the radio edits. Any feedback or experience greatly appreciated.

Probably okay, so long as your "bleeps" are on pitch, and in key!! :? :P
Just kiddin ya...
but seriously... couldn't you find/write some lyrics in the places where there are dicey words?
Seems that would work better than masking something vulgar.

I would avoid it... the beeps or silence might become distracting, especially if it's for a cue and not a song for an artist. I might think differently if I was submitting to a listing specifically asking for songs for an artist.

A few Hip Hop listings in the past have said that profanity was okay, so unless it specifies, I would steer clear of it. Even if it has beeps.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I ask because I have a number of tracks a hip-bop artist but most of them vulgar. We'll have to write some new songs!
