Playing songs on Taxi page on IPad

Post by manninghollow » Sun Mar 20, 2016 5:12 am

When trying to playback songs from a Taxi page on my IPad Air II I get a message to install flash player to allow playback. When attempting to install flash player the website says there is no application for my IPad. There has to be a way. Any suggestions?

Nope. Currently, the Taxi site uses flash for audio. There isn't any way to play a flash site on iOS devices. The only option is to wait until they redo the site and include html audio.

Not a great option. But flash is a dog on portable devices (computers too actually) so much so that even Adobe has ended development on mobile http://www.theverge.com/2011/11/9/25491 ... blackberry

HTML 5 is the answer. Hopefully the site will be updated soon. I know they are working on it.

I have the same problem on a Samsung phone, Xbox, Roku player and Amazon Fire Stick.

TAXI should really really up their game on this.
The web site looks like it's from the 90's. They should also aim to create apps for iOS, Android and other systems alike.

I agree with Orest,
I also found a couple of dead links in the resources section,

There's an app called photon that allows you to play music on the Taxi page. I think it's five bucks. I have it and it works pretty well.

Now that the subject has finally come up, I can agree the website needs, if not a remodel, at least a fresh coat of paint. Image/branding is important and younger people especially respond negatively to out of date fonts and colors. I still like the forum colors, though; hard on the eye as they are, it just wouldn't feel the same.

Gosh guys. Thanks. From a business standpoint I think TAXI ( hello!) should really take a look at this. Don't y'all all use Mac stuff? :o

Thanks Joseph! Re Photon, today I tried out the free version (with ads). It worked OK for me.

If I got it right ... For flash files, you use Photon as your browser instead of Google, etc. Using Photon you go to a Taxi page. Then click on the lightning bolt button on the Photon screen, this turns on the flash player for that session. Then you can click play on a Taxi track, and you should hear it playing.

I haven't decided whether to keep it. For me the search wasn't quite as good as other browsers, in finding my Taxi page for example. The lightning bolt may appear / disappear into a pulldown menu at the top, in the same area as my Samsung phone pulldown menu, so it took a couple tries to get the right pulldown. I had to turn on the flash player for each Taxi page (but not within a page). And then there are the frequent ads (on the free version).

But after the extra clicking around, it worked fine to play my tracks ... great for checking out your mixes on a low quality speaker :) :)

For this reason I tend to favour Soundcloud for uploads other than actual submissions; you can "hide" WIPs from the general public as "private" tracks and still share a playable link here in the Forum for feedback (just to prove it works! - https://soundcloud.com/matt_curious/06- ... ed/s-tueNr)
