There’s Not Much Left ©2016 Robert George BMI
I could see the way her boss was lookin’ at her
She’s smart and pretty, and she’s got integrity
So I hoped his money didn’t matter
Though there’s lotsa things I’ll never have
I’ve always made her smile and laugh
But he’s got a fancy Rolex watch
He drinks fine imported scotch
He’s got soft Italian loafers
A crusty British chauffeur and a personal chef
Hell, I’m just a poor brick layer
I ain’t golfin’ buddies with the mayor
But I think it’s all a bluff
If you took away his stuff
There’s not much left
He’s a Paris shopper, proper and sophisticated
Has a Corvette and Mercedes, but who knows maybe
All that shiny crap is over-rated
I sure ain’t the type of man to spy
But I hope she ain’t fallin’ for that guy
Cos he’s got a fancy Rolex watch
He drinks fine imported scotch
He’s got soft Italian loafers
A crusty British chauffeur and a personal chef
Owns some restaurants with sports bars
And they all get four stars
But I think it’s all a bluff
If you took away his stuff
There’s not much left
Spoken
I was watchin’ ESPN
When she got home late again
He’d invited her on his jet
For a weekend trip
She left him in his red Corvette
With a busted lip
She shook her head and said
Yeah, he’s got a fancy Rolex watch
He drinks fine imported scotch
He’s got soft Italian loafers
A crusty British chauffeur and a personal chef
But he wears alotta dumb things
Like a coupla diamond thumb rings
And I think it’s all a bluff
If you took away his stuff
There’s not much left
There’s not much left
Yeah, there’s not much left…
There's Not Much Left
