Whiskey Wind ©2016 Robert George BMI
Past the railroad crossing by the county line
There’s a crystal pond behind a grove of pines
Ev’ry chance I get I take my lady there
Where the night can taste the spirits in the air
It’s a whiskey wind
Blowin’ from the hills
Past the big red barns
And old windmills
Like molasses on the breeze
Stronger than magnolia leaves
‘neath a honey-tinted moon
We can smell the warm perfume
Of a whiskey wind
Well, I pick a rose and slip it in her curls
Southern roses are the sweetest in the world
Yet another fragrance tells us what we want
Breaks our will and leaves our clothes beside the pond
It’s a whiskey wind
Blowin’ from the hills
Through the long green grass
And daffodils
Like molasses on the breeze
Stronger than magnolia leaves
‘neath a honey-tinted moon
We can smell the warm perfume
Of a whiskey wind
Yeah, a whiskey wind
Blowin’ from the hills
Past the big red barns
And old windmills
Like molasses on the breeze
Stronger than magnolia leaves
‘neath a honey-tinted moon
We can smell the warm perfume
Of a whiskey wind
Ripples in the water
Towel in the sand
The woods are watching us,
I breathe her in because
She’s even sweeter than
The whiskey wind
The whiskey wind…
