Being a drummer as my primary instrument, I can see how ridiculous it has become.
I have played many sessions with 5 mics and 2 overheads. There has never been a problem.
Nower days, they use 4 or 5 room mics, 3 mics on a snare, "Hall" mics, etc.... Crazy! Oh yeah. Forgot to mention the Sub Kick.
And then, after all of these mics, they now insert "Samples" on your drum track to "Beef it up" Might as well use a drum machine.
Using the "Bare Basics" as a fresh approach to mixing.
