Whispers
Over coffee in the break room while at work
Whispers
In a cheap motel room while she’s rippin’ off my shirt

O we leaned in close and whispered in each others’ ears
And we thought that no one else could hear

Whispers
Passed between co-workers on an elevator ride
Whispers
That exposed the kisses that we tried to hide

Rumors filled the halls with tales of our forbidden flame
And in time those whispers soon became

Screaming
When I got home late one night
And she laid her bags out on the stoop
Crying
As I watched her taxi cab’s tail lights
And I lost it all in one fell swoop

Now there’s whispers in the shadows all around my bed
Even in the silence I hear whispers in my head

O I’m lost and brokenhearted
I can’t bear the cost and it all started
With whispers…
