Worth submitting same song to similar sounding listings?

Post by phustedt1 » Mon Apr 18, 2016 2:35 pm

Hello

New TAXI member here. I'm seeing a lot of listings with similar requirements.

My question is, is it worth submitting the same song to multiple listings?

For instance, if one TAXI screener returns your composition, should you go back to the drawing board and come up with a new composition ? Or have you ever had a song returned for one listing and forwarded by another similar listing?

Feedback would be very helpful thanks!

Depends on the reason for return. If it was just off target, I'd submit. If the track needs work, I'd do that first, or carry that knowledge to the next one.

cheers

I think in the beginning it might be good to not submit too much.

Things can get pretty expensive if you upload a bunch of tracks before even getting your first thorough feedback.
If nothing gets forwarded you might get frustrated..

Try to focus on a niche and maybe post your tracks on the forum instead to get some feedback from experienced members.

There is no pat answer. There are variations from screener to screener and even between very similarly worded listings. If you think the song is a winner, you may want to submit to a few similar listings to look for a pattern. For example, if different screeners return it for similar listings with similar reasons why, then you may want to take it back to the drawing board. One return is definitely not enough to make a decision on, unless the screener gives you very negative feedback on many aspects of the song.

I strongly recommend you take advantage of the peer to peer review section of this forum, posting the listing text for the listing you are considering, a link to the song, and the lyrics. You'll get lots of helpful feedback.

Best

i've had the same songs (with no changes) both returned and forwarded for the same type (superstar/major) listings by different screeners. i guess it's pretty much in the ear of the screener.

I agree with Casey. Also, you can take the reason for returned and make some changes as opposed to starting over from scratch.
