Ears Please...Does this sound on target ?
Hi All
We have put this piece together over the last couple of days, for this interesting listing ( never can resist these slightly different ones )
Been on it so long I've kinda lost objectivity Still a day or two to hone it though
Not really made anything like this before so any feedback appreciated, Please note the mix is deliberately on the Lo-Fi side a la the Reference Song...Do you think they have "Temp Love? . Thanks Mark.

NEW LISTING -- INDIE-Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed quickly for a $1,000, Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Company Placement by the Creative Marketing Director of a cutting-edge, food-related product. They’re looking for fresh and contemporary Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could be found on the same playlist with the band Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Take a careful listen to the reference they gave us to get in the general ballpark of what they need:
“Can’t Keep Checking My Phone” by Unknown Mortal Orchestra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpD_74Vc3mA
Even though the reference has vocals, they are looking for Instrumentals only for this pitch!
Quoting the Marketing Director: “The mood we’re trying to create with this video is anticipation and excitement. We really like the vibe of ‘Can’t Keep Checking My Phone’ by Unknown Mortal Orchestra for the interesting, energetic, yet chill vibe. But, we’re also open to other ideas that are more energetic, and less chill. It’ll be the musical backdrop in a 45-60 second teaser video for a game-changing product from a cutting-edge food-tech company. The product is amazing, and we believe it will cause quite a buzz.”
Give them fun, lively, and energetic Instrumentals that can lend the right vibe to their exciting marketing campaign for this game-changing product. Your instrumentation should be that of a typical Indie Rock band, with a quality that’s generally in line with the reference above. A believable “Indie” quality is what they’re after for this pitch, so please be sure your submissions are not dated sounding. Having a great Indie sound that’s got some hipster, modern quality to it will go a long way for this pitch. We think it’s really important that you listen carefully to the reference, and while NOT copying it, match the vibe, overall sound, and texture to help you nail this unique request.
Your submissions should be at least a 1:30 in length, with good edit points. No-faded endings will probably work best, but if you’ve got something that really hits the nail on the head and it has a faded ending, go ahead and send it. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced band or song in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for feel, texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Sounds amazing, I think you have a good shot at it.
I will say though, that the reference track has a casual/slacker quality to the performances that is not as evident in your take.

Yeah I think I get what mean....that "Hipster" vibe....I always think that the vocals are the thing add a lot of the flavour so when they are absent I'm not quite sure how to inject more of it.billprice wrote: I will say though, that the reference track has a casual/slacker quality to the performances that is not as evident in your take.
