recommendation for cinematic drums
Hi, I very much need the 'cinematic drum' sound as used in every action movie (think Terminator movies etc). I believe it's a heavily-processed taiko drum?
Needs to be compatible with GarageBand.
An example is here at :55 in:

Unfortunately, the 'cinematic drum packs' I've seen online don't play this sound in their demos so I don't know if they have what I want.
I purchased the taiko drum package from Quake but it has a pristine concert-hall sound, not the compressed echoey sound I need.
Many thanks!

Re: recommendation for cinematic drums
check out various drum packages from:
Native Instruments
Heavyocity
8dio
soundiron
cinesamples
East west
etc.
some of them will be directly usable for this kind of sound.
alternatively - you can add compression and ambience to any drum to make it sound differ - I am sure you are aware. But those don't sound like Taikos to me necessarily.

Thank you Andy. These are all good. I just found Prime Loops has a good selection too.
After posting, I discovered that youtube has better sample demo's than the product websites!
At this point doing my own processing is a stretch so I will go for something 'out of the box' with that action movie sound.

Thanks, I'll check that out.
I went with Prime Loops - Cinematic Impacts Vol 2, which is perfect for my needs.

I thought you were looking for instruments rather than loops.
Andy listed some very interesting names. I'll add spitfire to the list too.
The thing, to get a massive sound, is to actually layer your sound. Use different libraries to fill in your spectrum of frequencies.
And in each section of the spectrum, use closed mic'ed instrument and others with a room to them, and mix tastefully, getting the best out of both worlds.
it does take time, and RAM, but the joy of hearing such things is un-measurable

Thanks both of you. Right now I'm using loops, didn't know i could get a virtual drum kit to do this.
I'll play with mixing, I just upgraded to Logic Pro X, so that's something I can do now.
