I'm walkin on air .. where could this be used?

Post by feaker66 » Mon May 23, 2016 5:51 pm

Thanks for all the comments so far. I added a bridge at a minute and a half. Also added another high octave harmony in the chorus. (yes I sang the high"D" note) ha ha Was wondering if it works?

Update I added a guitar swell to the intro and outro for more zing. I EQ's so more lows out of the acoustics in the 2-400 range and more lows out of the vox.

This is a super sappy song. I don't have a real chorus. I know that is a problem. I have the old dry mouth syndrome again. You will hear clicks all over the place. I was just wondering if this could work somewhere in film etc?

I’m walkin on air

In a field, in a cloud, in a rolling wave I can see your face In my mind…in my heart..all the time

I am walkin on air… the skies have never been so blue
yes I am walkin on air I am crazy happy and it’s all.. because of you

Could it be..possibly that maybe she’d fall in love with me In her mind..In her heart..all the time

Cuz it's love It is true It was waiting there for me and you yes it's love It is pure I've never ever felt so shure

But you do have a chorus. The walking on air part?

I would choose pt of view HER/SHE or YOU? As that switched up in second verse.

I think you have something - polish it/sharpen it. Go with it.

imho: great guitar tracks; excellent and appropriate vocal/harmonies...
possibly the best recording of yours (that an old dude's brain remembers).

fwiw: what you have is a Refrain, rather than a Chorus, per se - and that works fine as such.

Don't sell yourself 'short' - ahhemmm - Paul; :? :?
on the quality of this song, I mean.

Wish you would go get yourself a freebie Soundcloud page - and 'join the club', as it were.

Since the title and Refrain lyric are what they are, any instrument embellishment ought to complement that -
something light & airy: a harp... light flute or woodwind instrument... other ideas?
However - it really sounds complete as-is... and doesn't need anything more.
Again- more old-dude ears' opinion comin' atya.

Cheers.

Hi Andy

Thanks for the listen and the comments. I'm not a fan of songs that have tons of lyrics. I am up for any change in this song including a whole different path. The only thing I sorta liked was the 'walking on air" thing. I polished and posted today and will go back again and see if I can get, what you mentioned, straightened out. it just got so sickening sweet, it was gagging me.

sincerely

hi Peter It has been a long time between songs. I am doing a collab with one of our friends and that took me away for a bit. That should be surfacing in the near future.

I hear you on the refrain thing. I tried a bunch of chorus melodies, but most were just a little too high:)

I am on soundcloud also, but I daily change the song and don't know how much time I would be eating up there?? When it gets totally finished, I will leave it there.

Thanks for your two cents, you are most always spot on.

Sincerely

Paul

Paul,

If I were you I'd do these three things and then call the song done.

1) At 1:10 drop out all the percussion for 2 beats.

2) When you com e back into the 2nd verse add in a snare on the 2 & 4 beats.

3) Have a third verse with a simple, elegant guitar solo and then bring the vocal back in on 'I am walking'.

BTW, I wouldn't call it super sappy. It's honest.

John

For what it's worth - it's got just the right amount of cowbell. :? :P

John I really like your suggestions.

I just used a drum beat in EZdrummer for a little cement and ran it all the way out. I am sooo bad at percussion. ha ha

I will give the my gibby or PRS a go at that lead, but I am not very good at that. I played rhythm in our band for MANY years.

This helps so much because the song is only 2 minutes long now. I couldn't come up with a bridge. The nice part is that I have very little time in this so far.

Thanks much

Sincerely

Paul

Peter, the cowbell is the favorite of mine and my oldest daughter. ha ha

I had a guy in facebook offer to put some string in there, but I am not sure if I should. I also don't know the dude, but he seems nice??

Take care Peter and keep crankin em out

Sincerely

Paul

Re: I'm walkin on air ..update..added abridge at 1:32

Thanks for all the comments so far. I added a bridge at a minute and a half. Also a high octave to the chorus and lowered then intro and outro by 3db. Was wondering if it works?

I am not sure if one is supposed to do this bump thing or not. But it is a major change to the song:) ha ha

sincerely

Paul
