On target for Sultry R&B ?

Post by Cwadroon » Fri May 27, 2016 1:42 pm

"Mixbreed blues"

This sample was just the first freestyle run through. (Real rough) I started with some "sade esque" chords and it kind of morphed. CaiNo will bless the finished version with his amazing pipes. But I'd love some feedback on the general vybe/groove of this?
Also, here's some of the lyrics, is it pg enough?

When I look at your body baby, I want to take a ride to the hills
When I see you smile babe, I wanna kiss those lips for real
I bet inside your beautiful, just relax and let me feel
Ohhhh yeeeaahhh , etc haha

NEW LISTING -- SULTRY, CONTEMPORARY R&B SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed Q-U-I-C-K-L-Y by the Music Supervisor of an extremely popular Web-based Dance Channel that’s partnered with an international beauty/cosmetic brand to create original online content/shows.

Note: Although the particulars of the deal are not fully known at this time, the Music Supervisor estimates the payout to be in the $20,000 to $30,000 range (based on similar projects and deals he’s done in the past), and we suspect that this deal will be Non-Exclusive. Assuming that’s correct, you would keep all publishing and master rights (and still be able to license the song for other projects), and they’ll license the song in perpetuity because it’s going on the Internet.

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “We want something Mid-Tempo, with a Beyoncé meets Sade kind of vibe; Pop princess meets R&B maturity. The Weeknd could be a good example as well, as long as it doesn’t have a big drop. Think sexy, sultry, and playful, without being hard-hitting or heavy.”

Please submit provocative and danceable Mid-Tempo Songs in the broad stylistic range of artists like Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Sade, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following songs to get yourself in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the sound and style that could work for this:

WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic, explicit, and overly provocative lyrics. Listener discretion is strongly advised. At least, kick the kids out of the room!

“Dance for You” by Beyoncé: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGc9n6BiWXA

“Ego” by Beyoncé: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbnPkK76Ask

“Often” by The Weeknd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPIhUaONiLU

“As You Are” by The Weeknd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yer0_JJ-8QQ

“Soldier of Love” by Sade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR5_rTCi-Bo

“Flow” by Sade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cbx7vhaIxi0

Please submit current sounding songs with a sultry, sexy, steamy vibe, a danceable beat, catchy melodies, and a chorus that generally reflects the feel and vibe of the references. Your lyrics should revolve around playfully provocative themes, as long as they’re PG-Rated. Good luck with that PG part ;-) Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for feel, range of tempo, texture, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Some cool ideas in there...
I never felt like it had what they are asking for in the listing...
I listened to 2 of the references "Weekend" (since they call that one out) and the Beyonce tune
They are both danceable and quite sparse.
Your delayed L/R guitar never let me feel a groove and the bass feels too busy compared to the refs
Key in on those two reference tunes, could be easier than you are making it, you got the chops!

Thanks so much man, yeah I thought I was getting too far off course! Lol. I'm loving the track but I will finish it later. How about the lyrics?
