Yeah - I'm fan of the old warbirds for just that reason -like the Corsair,
and (imho) one of the coolest ever designed... there's some music in them engines...

Lots of You Tube clips of those works of art; if you're into all of that.

On a different note,
these guys managed to find a mechanical drum machine to fill in
when their regular guy was out sick... :?

Nice post, Cass.
PS - working on my golf game, just in case... RR time...

thanks Cass!

that was the start of a decent into the rabbit hole and I just watched some documentary of a crazy nut who found a B-29 bomber someplace north of Thule and tried to rehab it and fly it out of there until it burned up on the improvised runway.

Reminded me a bit of the note on this car.

Sometimes I think we over romanticise those bands from back in the day.

Love that drum machine. It aint the tools...

Aircraft are the bane of my studio existence, but...I wouldn't turn down a free P-51 Mustang with avgas and flying lessons, or even just a ride, though I don't think they made a two-seater. I also wouldn't turn down a cat shot off an aircraft carrier, not even a decommissioned one, and I also wouldn't care which kind of aircraft, but for druthers, it'd be an F-14.

When I served on the USS Nimitz, I occasionally had reason to crouch behind a JBD (jet blast deflector) while those suckers were taking off. It's the loudest thing I have ever heard, and I was at a Blue Oyster Cult concert, circa 1980, before all the venues started taking ANSI/OSHA regulations seriously. I thought Black Sabbath (with Ronnie James Dio) was loud before the Cult came on and played Godzilla; it sounded like Market Square Arena was being imploded with me and my buddies in it. We actual left before the concert ended, cuz our seats were too close to the stacks, and we had zero ear protection.
