A Forever That Never Was ©2016 Robert George BMI
Frisbee players watch
A carefree spirit biking in the park
Long hair sailing in the wind
Morning cabbies see
A career woman by a coffee cart
Buying lattes for her friends
But each time I drive downtown
What I see just drags me down
Once she was my endless love
Now she’s just a mem’ry of
A forever that never was
Cos it’s plain to see
That eternity
Came way too soon for us
Somehow yesterday seems to last and last
And now all my dreams just can’t get past
A forever
A forever that never was
Young kids turn and watch
A hip-hop lover shoppin’ at the mall
With a Jay-Z t-shirt on
Neighbors all wave at
A barefoot country princess in the Fall
Rakin’ summer from her lawn
Maybe I should head out west
Give these sleepless nights a rest
But I’ll bet sunny Anaheim
Won’t help me leave behind
A forever that never was
Cos it’s plain to see
That eternity
Came way too soon for us
Somehow yesterday seems to last and last
And now all my dreams just can’t get past
A forever
A forever that never was
It’s a burning heart
That still remembers love
Sitting in the dark
I still see embers of
A forever that never was
Cos it’s plain to see
That eternity
Came way too soon for us
Somehow yesterday seems to last and last
And now all my dreams just can’t get past
A forever
A forever that never was
A Forever That Never Was
