Decibels; Dropping Some Science

Post by mojobone » Sat Aug 13, 2016 2:10 am

Here's an article on the latest in preferred decibel nomenclature. http://tapeop.com/tutorials/108/new-and ... d-decibel/

Maybe you need a TapeOp subscription to read it, but why wouldn't you? The signup's free and you get a bi-monthly magazine in the bargain, plus the archives subscription is a measly $5 or so per year. But do you really need to know all the various formulae? Maybe, if you're giving a paper at AES, or you just really want to be a qualified audio engineer. Without knowing this stuff, you can still be a mix engineer, but it's not nearly as cool.

Thanks for reminding about TapeOp, mojo. What a great mag - and free too!
