Here's Giles Martin discussing how the Beatles' 'Hollywood Bowl" performances were restored.

Good read! Giles Martin is also largely responsible for the re-mix album Love that was done for Cirque du Solei as a tribute to the Beatles. It's really good and an amazing production.

Just as a hopefully entertaining aside, I used to live about 2 blocks from the Hollywood Bowl, great venue, and used to go there a lot. One night as we were watching a classical concert, can't remember the piece, all of a sudden the crowd starts something like the Wave, everybody stood up in sync. It seemed really inappropriate for the occasion; until the skunk that was running through the isles ran in front of us and for the only time in my life I did the Wave. It was a memorable chuckle!

Ha, Skunk Baxter was an early proponent of direct guitar recording, long before it became popular; when confronted by tube amp purists like me, he used to say, "Let's do it my way, and if you don't like the result, you don't have to pay me." They always paid.

Thats funny I was just thinking about this subject about a week ago.... how a friend of mine had some new restored Beatles audio cassette back in the 80's, possibly same show, raving about how it had been noise reduced and made into 'stereo' ha ha (dont know when it had been restored actually)

But I was thinking about all this "RX" software available now - and what a masterful job they could probably do to some Beatles work now....WOW

I havent logged in here in years (sorry everyone) and just figures Mojo's post made it all worth it!!! Cant wait to pick this up
