Rally Forum Member Idea: update your avatar pics?

Post by Paulie » Fri Sep 09, 2016 11:23 am

Since the Rally is soon... (54 days and counting), I thought it might be cool to learn some faces before I get there. I'm admittedly horrible with names, and my short-term memory has been fading the past year or so. I'm sure it has nothing to do with turning 50. :)

I'll be updating my avatar to a recent headshot, would be great if others though this was useful

Can't wait!

You can do that, but remember to also wear a DOT on your name badge :)

Yes, that is an important thing to do. :)

If you can't remember how to change your avatar, here's what I just did:
  1. Within the orange strip near the top of your browser click the "user control panel" link
  2. Click "profile"
  3. Click "edit avatar"
  4. This board is running some old PHP code and has lots of limitations. One is the maximum dimensions of your photo; width: 90 pixels, height: 90 pixels, file size: 6.00 KiB. (if you need help, PM me and I'll be glad to create a file for you)
  5. Post the pic somewhere where you can get a direct URL/link to the file itself. I use photobucket and flickr, but there are many options out there.
  6. Paste the direct link to the dil into the "Lnk off=site" field.
  7. click submit.
If it doesn’t work the file is probably too large, or the link is not correct.

Your avatar worked but when I met you at the rally you were wearing glasses and didn't have a saxophone around your neck :)

And I thought Andy would be a 2 year old prodigy running around with the picture of a jazz virtuoso in his left hand...

Good point... I'll be wearing them again this year. Might need a new pic.

Well played. :)

I like to make myself easy to find at the Rally, particularly on the first day; sometimes, I wear a funny hat or bright orange trousers, but it's probably not necessary-still, it's kinda fun.
