New song "CAN YOU HEAR ME"

Post by LyricsMatter » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:15 am

Yikes! - my first time posting a song on Peer To Peer - a big step for me. :o

All comments and feedback on lyrics, marketability, mix, production, vocal performances, etc - appreciated and welcomed.

I felt compelled - perhaps pulled - to write Can You Hear Me following and in response to the hideous violence that took place in Orlando a few months ago - the nightclub shooting that took the lives of 49 young people and injured 53. The elements and mood of this song should reflect a twofold intention - to honor the victims by putting forth an effort in capturing what must have been sheer disbelief and unimaginable horror - while at the same time offering a healing component - wanting to believe that the victims experienced a feeling of being comforted and lifted above the chaos and hate by a higher power - a voice of acceptance and love - in their final moments. I hope so. I mean - Who among us can say with certainty what happens in the final seconds of life?

Once again I think Jan did a wonderful job capturing my intent for this song in his final production. Interestingly, during the August 29th episode of Taxi TV Peter Petro from Cre8 Music Academy provided clarification on the definition of a producer. He said, “a producer is someone who can take ideas in someone’s head and make them come out of a pair of speakers.” Peter’s definition - within the context and parameters of our collaborative process - rings true for us. On a creative level - regardless of genre and style - it’s a pleasure to present song ideas and lyrics to Jan - he gets it.

Thank you for listening!

Hi Trisha,

Can't speak to marketability, who really knows these days? It was almost operatic and you did a wonderful job production wise. Lyrics hit hard and do stop you in your tracks a few times as you can sense the impending doom. Vocals came across as honest and full of emotion and could easily be used in a montage scene under score. Kudos to Jan. Impressive work from start to end. Enjoyed the listen. Great colab.

best

Hi st,

Thanks for listening! I agree with you - this song is more cinematic than not - geared toward film.

As always, your impressions, comments and kind words are very much appreciated. :D

woooh! 8-)
kinda like a little movie in my head and I'm not sure if it would necessarily would be better with a video hehe!
You know, some movies leave you speechless as you walk out silently in the stream of people out of the theater into the rainy night.
Short song here but definitely atmospheric enough.

Wow Really powerful and haunting. I can see this used a lot in film and tv. Nice work
