Who's Ready for Christmas?

Post by johnlewitt » Wed Sep 28, 2016 7:26 am

Here's a Christmas tune that Tom Hoy & I came up with.

I think I got the mood right, even though I did all the recording of it in the summer when it was over 30 degrees celsius!

How's the mix sounding?

Thanks for listening.

John

Good one John Liked the simple meaning and feel of the chorus. Moves along with a good peppy beat. Would have like a little more intro before the singing started:)

Sincerely

Paul

Hi John
Just listened on my laptop. Sounding good :)

I agree with Paul on the intro.

Heard a vocal glitch at 30, 53 and 1:33 on "this" It could be the way you are singing it or some artefacts. I'd consider doing it again smoother. "list" at 2.:47 sounds uncontrolled. {promise me you'll never pick my vocals apart like this   ]
All your vocals are really tight but from 1:48 to 1:54 you could do a little finessing bringing the BVs and main together. It's not much but you know the game of inches or millimetres.

I'd drop the tom hits at 1:18 Souded a bit loose and I don't think they are necessary there.

Couldn't quite tell on the laptop if the toms had too much energy down low. maybe maybe not.

2nd verse I thought some bells might be nice coming in?

I'm sure you could do a few tweaks after you sit back from it a bit but it's pretty close to being there.

Really well done. [Wish I could do that]

Thanks all for listening and commenting.

Len, I've gone in adjusted several of the spots you mentioned. I've de-essed the vocal more - as that's what I think you were hearing on the word 'this'. And I did ditch the short tom fill.

As to an intro, I thought it might be a more modern touch to start it off this way. If I did a 4 bar instrumental section I'd just be ripping off a bunch of other Christmas tunes!

Hey John,

I like the short intro, I think it works for this track. Overall enjoyed the spirit conveyed in the vocal and musical performance. Well done John. Ho ho ho
