slate digital trigger

Post by lesmac » Sun Nov 20, 2016 3:44 am

Anyone using Slate Digital Trigger? It looks pretty good and I see its for sale for $150.
I've just received some sessions that used it and its a plugin I don't have. Up to this point I haven't had any live drum tracks to mix but who knows what tomorrow may bring?
I'm thinking it could be put to use on VI drums as well with it's layering capabilities.
Thanks.

I bought it a couple of months ago on sale, it's pretty sweet. I just received my new audio interface so I can better mic my drums to separate the signals. From what I've seen so far you add trigger to each track and assign a drum sound to a specific frequency. So, the more tracks you have the more you can do. I'm still at the very beginning of learning this product.

Lester, unless you particularly like the slate drum samples, ??

Pro Tools right?

For the same money there is the ss drums platinum, that comes with 100 kits, probably many more than the trigger.

Even if you had a live drummer and wanted to replace the tracks, I think I'd still go the drums platinum over the trigger??

Thanks guys.

Hey Len thats a good vid. The cool bit is the group thing. Iv'e seen other videos doing similar but with more key strokes. Ive got heaps of drum samples so I probably will hold off on spending and do it manually.

Trigger looks good for doing stuff quickly, its phase aligned and very tweak able but I can't justify using myself yet.

I can see it would be great for what Paulie is doing or someone who records a drum kit.

The industry standard used to be Drumagog, but Slate and now Addictive have similar offerings, though the devil likely resides in the details, when it comes to how a given plugin fits your workflow/genres.

Did they just drop to $79, with a $15 gift card??

so did the platinum drums

Depending on how the gift cards work, you can get both for $130??

No, it's just that I've bought so much stuff in the past, I get a lot of emails,

Sometimes I don't hear anything from a company for awhile, then if I visit their web site I start getting emails again, lol!

Slate Trigger is great if used well - much like all drum replacement I guess.

Some of the included samples are very clicky and geared towards hard rock, but there are plenty of 3rd party companies making good Trigger samples (plus you can sample your own kits and use them).

Just don't go too nuts on it as it starts to become fake very quickly!
