Shortage of Thanksgiving Songs

Post by LamarPecorino » Thu Nov 24, 2016 8:48 am

As I have been gearing up for the Holiday Party season, I once again realized that there aren't many songs written to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. I wonder if there is an untapped creative opportunity there.

I'd like to wish everyone at Taxi and on the Forums a very Happy Thanksgiving! :)
Onward and upward!

Yeah, Adam Sandler pretty much has it sewn up. Who wants to compete with that?

Generally I think Americans prefer celebrating the commerce more than eating, not that they don't like to eat, that's why the Christmas season begins the day after, it's probably more a celebration to the beginning of that season, lol! And if Thanksgiving was celebrated for more than a day, it just moves the thought of the dreaded commerce season that much closer. Then the diet and exercise season comes in January after New Years, when everyone can resolve to do better in the new year. If Thanksgiving was celebrated in August, it would probably need to be celebrated on a Monday to be considered as a holiday, or as a day off work. But then candy companies used to be pretty successful at setting up holidays, as long as it wasn't in summer months when the candy might melt, lol! I'm speculating that Veteran's Day was more popular when they had candy flags until it was considered desecrating the flag
The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose. It should not be embroidered, printed or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary use.

Sorry, Len, but the real reason Americans celebrate Thanksgiving after the Canadians do is that our retail workers couldn't possibly withstand a longer holiday season; it's brutal enough, as is.
