Plugins failed to load - Pro Tools
Hey all.... Happy Thanks giving Weekend
Have an unusual problem that so far neither iZotope or my Sweetwater tech was able to sniff out;
All I'm trying to do is use iZotope's new 'Nuetron' plug in.... already own O-Zone which runs without issue
Error message:
"The following plugins failed to load because no valid authorization could be found or the ilok key was not connected"
Whats stumping is the fact that Neutron dose not require an ilok to be available in Pro Tools according to iZotope support. Once it appears I can enter my serial number. It doesnt function as a stand alone so Im screwed until Pro Tools gives it up
Anybody run into this error message? Sucks plunking down cash then fumbling around for weeks.... salivating to get my hands on the new visual frequency mode that displays any clashs.
PS Ive done all the usual uninstalling/reinstall ....fresh downloads from the site... including ilok
Thanks so much
Chris

Re: Plugins failed to load - Pro Tools
Chris, generally you use a serial number after you create an account and use the serial number to get an authorization code. If you are connected to the internet with the computer that has the product, authorization is usually done automatically, if not you usually have to down load the authorization code and place it in a default path where the plugin is setup to look for the authorization code, or you have to manually supply the path in the plugin where you placed the authorization code.
For an ilok, the authorization is sent to ilok, which you then have to login in to your ilok account, and download the authorization (license) to your ilok. Any computer that has the downloaded ilok(pace) drivers can be used with the ilok plugged into an usb port.
I haven't watched the videos, lol, so if there is a contradiction to what I said, follow their advice.

Basically, a serial number will allow you to get an authorization code or license, from the plugin mfg., the serial number is not the license. You probably have an account already, because you have o-zone, and just forgot the last step. The first time you probably followed the directions step by step, and now you didn't, because I have done the same thing, lol!"The following plugins failed to load because no valid authorization could be found or the ilok key was not connected"

The reason they can't sniff it out, is because they assumed you followed the instructions step by step, and they assumed that because you already had o-zone and had it working from before, that you followed the directions in the same way, lol!
It's been a few years back, but I actually had a similar situation with Sweetwater, I don't remember the particulars. Not too long ago I had a hard drive crash, the one with most of my authorizations and licenses, and no I don't have a backup system, lol, and had to do a great many of them, except for the iloks, that's when you are so grateful for the ilok, lol! Or that dongle that Cubase uses.

Re: Plugins failed to load - Pro Tools
steps these are general guidelines for any plugins
1. Serial number or a code is supplied by the company through e-mail usually, you purchased the product from, if third party.
2. Go to manufacturer's site, download software if you haven't already, create and/or login to account, usually located under "My account" or support.
3. Look for "authorization". enter serial number, download authorization code/license
4. if you are using an ilok for product that uses ilok, the manufacturer will send your license to ilok, so you need to go to ilok and create/login to account to retrieve your license and download to ilok that is connected to a usb port
5. open software, stand-alone or through vst.
6. the software then automatically searches for license/authorization. It will search all allowable method(s). Sometimes, and the mfg. will state, if there is a particular folder or location the license needs to be. Usually there is so it can find the license quickly, unlike paths for vst, sample files, or library files the software might use for instance.
7. if you get a boxed software, there is usually a serial number on the box, you then need to go to mfg. site to enter s/n to get authorization code/license/validation.

Len
Thank you so much for responding.... thats just what I needed somebody who ran into same issue
I did authorize it on the site but you might be on to something concerning the last step. Im kinda crammed for time right now with guests coming by soon but will try
Ugh,,,,, its telling me already authorized and all roads (methods) lead back to being able to 'open' it in my daw to input auth code - and pro Tools refues to let me open
Seems to be a hiccup here: Nothing 'sends' me an authorization number nor does it appear on the site - just says 'authorized' and 'activated' (1 of 1 activation) but displays serial number only. Says 'already authorized for ilok' ,,,, this pertains to both the ilok manager and ilok website
Still sure looks to me like getting the plugin to open in my DAW is the key

Re: Plugins failed to load - Pro Tools
Yes, it is. You can't do anything until it does. Do you mean you see the Neutron listed in Pro Tools effects, and when you select it it doesn't open, and Pro Tools just sits there and does nothing, or crashes? Or do you mean that when you go to select the Neutron, it isn't listed? The first situation sort of indicates the dll file might be corrupt, the second scenario indicates that the dll file is not in the folder or path that Pro Tools is searching for it's vst's. The uninstalling/reinstalling might have placed it(neutron dll) into a default folder that Pro Tools does not have listed to look in, usually in the C: drive, it's usually better to add a vst path in ProTools than just move the dll because sometimes a plugin will ask you to reinstall itself.Still sure looks to me like getting the plugin to open in my DAW is the key
You either choose ilok authorization or challenge and response, online or offline. Do you have an ilok? Is it plugged into the online computer when you download the license to it and then move it to the computer with Pro Tools installed if not on the same computer? If Pro Tools is on the offline computer, and you move the ilok to an online computer, and Pro Tools uses the ilok for it's own license, and you forget to move the ilok back, I can see where it might not allow you to open Neutron, or any other vst??
Authorization videos.
