I joined Taxi in 2004. As a direct result of a listening panel at the 2007 Road Rally I made my first serious music library contact. This led to my first music library deal being signed in 2008. Fortunately, it was a great library and they have done a great job placing my music in television. Of course, one would only expect there to be great music libraries at the Road Rally. There have been more since then.

My experience is that it varies. I got a forward for a library via TAXI a number of years ago. The library rep contacted me in a very short amount of time. Not only did he sign the song that was forwarded, but also 5 more out of my collection.

Fast forward a few years. I still submit on a regular basis. He usually responds within 2 weeks of a submission. However, a while back I submitted a song and didn't hear back from him. I gave it a month, then made a polite inquiry. No response. I let it lie and then made another inquiry a month later. He replied and said he wanted the song but asked for a slight change to the mix. I submitted the revised version the following day...no reply. I didn't want to be a pest so I just let it be.

4 months later he replied that he liked the remix and wanted to sign the song. And this is someone who routinely signs my songs and replies to my emails in a timely manner.

So you just never know. A lot of times they just get really busy. So they may contact you the next day. or it may be months or even years down the road.

Back in 2009 two of my songs were signed by a company after being forwarded by TAXI.

Those two songs have been in their catalog ever since. And just recently I signed another three year agreement with them.

Yesterday I received an email from that company stating one of those songs has been placed in the Netflix series 'Bloodline'. That was exciting news! :D

So, almost six years later to-the-month I have a placement from a forward. I'm no less excited now about it than I would have been if the placement came within weeks or months of signing them to the publisher.

Now, here's the kicker. Due to extreme financial conditions I did not renew my TAXI membership after that first year of 2009. I mean things were really really tight financially. But when things got better I still did not renew my membership; I did keep reading the opportunity emails though. ;)

It's quite possible I would have had more forwards and placements had I kept my membership with TAXI. But you know, I'm not bummed about it or kicking myself...I got a placement! 8-)

I am now going to renew my membership. Partly the placement motivates me but mostly it's because I know - for where I am with my music - it is time to again pursue this avenue.

Thank you TAXI for the forward those six years ago. May many more come in the future.

I joined TAXI in April 2011. Got some forwards within that first year. Signed about 10 tracks to a library within 18 months. In the fall of 2014, one of those tracks was my first official placement registered with ASCAP. Domestic payment hit in April 2015, International payment pending in May 2015.

My five year plan is a bit stretched right now, but the last year especially life has been chaos. Getting back on track again and making more music.

Congrats Ron :)

From everything I have read and talked to people about, it seems the start is slow, but once you start rolling, the curve increases quicker and quicker :ugeek:

So... I'm not the only one in that slow boat..."whew". I think this is year 13 of my 5-year plan.
If only money grew on palm trees... or on the beach. :? 8-)
At least you're getting placements for all your persistence; BRAVO!

After 4 months Taxi membership and 7 submissions.... I have 5 forwards, 1 return, and 1 pending. One forward has already lead to a 50/50 publishing deal, the library asked for more tracks and then signed another 3 !!! (2 of which were different genres to the original listing). I'm hoping for many more deals, and some placements a.s.a.p. THANKYOU TAXI !!!! BTW, I'd recommend watching every back-episode of TAXI TV on you tube before joining - that's what I did - to minimize 'missing the target' on your submissions when you start off.... Oh, and READ THE LISTING!!! Cheers all, Gary
