Composer seeking lyricists collaborators in pop styles

Post by cbusy » Thu Jul 29, 2010 11:53 am

Hi

I'm a songwriter/composer - recently signed up with Taxi looking to collaborate with lyricists to do some song submissions.

My preferred style is pop, adult contemporary, and tween pop (probably because I have tween kids and listen to it constantly...:)

To hear a sample song I composed you can check out "That One" at http://www.taxi.com/chrisbura
With the above - I received raw written lyrics only with small direction on style, tempo.

If you share a love for these styles of music, love writing, but want to collaborate with a composer - let me know.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Here are some lyrics,I hope you like them. No directives-I'm not precious about them,if you want re-writes I'll do
my best to please. Hope to hear from you, though no doubt you have been deluged with lyrics (just out of interest
how many replies have you had so far?).

Eyes

1)I'd like to be lost in your eyes (8)

2)That's the place I'd like to be (7)

3)Eyes that are as deep as the sea (8)

4)As quiet as the caressing (7) Quiet eyes like the caressing (7)

5)Lapping waves in the evening (8)

(Chorus?)
1)Eyes that see,eyes that feel (6)

2)Eyes that I'm glad to say (6)

3)Have come my way (4)

1)Eyes as bright as a moonlit sea (8)

2)Full of spirit underneath (7)

3)Floating adrift in those eyes (7)

4)Like a sleeping sailor at night (8)

5)That's the place where I'd like to lie (8)
That's where I'd like to occupy (8)
That's where I'd like to survive (7)

1)And here under the moonlight (7)

2)I'm reflected in your eyes (7)

3)A place where I can survive (7)

4)After my eyes have shed sad tears (8)

5)A place where I'll have no fears (7)

The Meeting

1)Hell,what are you doing here? (7)

2)Now I want to disappear (7)

3)But I could have hidden away (8)

4)With bitter feelings holding sway (8) Where bitter feelings dominate (8)

5)Hoping we'd never meet again, (8)

6)Now you're here at this gathering. (8)

(Chorus?)
1)Do we hang on the crosses (7)

2)Of our own biographies (histories)? (7/6)

3)Or do we cut our losses? (7)

4)Becoming lovers again,not enemies. (11)

1)It could have been easier, (8)

2)If we had passed each other, (7)

3)On a noisy crowded street, (7)

4)Forever never to meet, (7)

5)Now fate's thrown us together (7)

6)So where do we go from here (7)

1)Stupidly there was rivalry (8)

2)Such silly bitter jealousy (8)

3)But now I clearly recognize (8)

4)That there's never been a prize (8)

5)For winning a lover's fight (7)

6)Ending in an angry goodbye (8)

I Don't Want to go Away.

1)The man waves his flag (5)

2)And the train moves away (6)

3)From my seat I look back (6)

4)And I give you a wave (6)

5)Sad to leave you behind (6)

6)In the afternoon light (6)

(chorus)
1)And I don't want to go away (8)

2)And I don't want to go away (8)

1)The train gets faster (5) The train's speed increases (6)

2)As I look through the trees (6)

3)Out to wide fields of green (6)

4)Where children are running (6) Where children play chasing (6)

5)Their lives living so free (6)

6)In the shimmering heat (6) A painting in retreat (6)

(chorus)
1)And I don't want to go away (8)

2)And I don't want to go away (8)

1)And I'll dream of you (5)

2)As a red neon light (6)

3)Flashes through my bedroom (6)

4)Waking to crowded/dirty streets (6)

5)With a heart so heavy (6)

6)In a concrete city (6)

(chorus)
1)And I don't want to go away (8)

2)And I don't want to go away (8)

I've got others and I'm writing two more now. I liked "That One" a lot.

Hey Ken - thanks. My first attempt. I'll have another two up in a couple weeks - a pop/country crossover a la Taylor Swift and a pop song a la Kelly Clarkson. We'll see.

I totally dig your stuff - i wish I could write better in the R&B/dance style...

Hello Chris,
I like the sound of your stuff, and you appear to have a lot experience behind you. I recently penned some lyrics that i think have the potential for a song with the right composition, and i have in mind the rock/pop genre, but am open to other suggestions as i am not a musician or a composer. I am looking for a collabaration with a composer, if you are interested, please send me some details about yourself, and have you any published work?
i am 47, and my music influences have come from the alike:

Rolling Stones, early 80s music, Sex Pistols, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, U2, Goo dolls, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Bread, Don Mclean, Cat Stevens, Rick Nelson.

look forward to hearing from you,
Costas.
